Mission

The Ecodesign SIG members believe that the most important focus for a SIG on ecodesign should be on the actual implementation of environmental tools, methods and thinking patterns into industrial companies. For this reason we have the following aims for the Ecodesign SIG:

  • Make it happen in industry
  • Raise level of research results and professionalism
  • Triangulation of results through discussion and collaboration
  • Peer review of methods and tools
  • Creation of more real-world examples and minimisation of repetition
  • Share examples in research and in teaching
  • Real evaluations of tools and methods (in companies)
  • Exchange- get in contact - get informed - get involved - do it - improve- exchange
  • Active dissemination of ecodesign experiences and active attempts at increasing the audience for these in industry
  • Make ecodesign alive, active and attractive for researchers and industrialists
  • Provide inspiration
  • Involve students
  • Synergy through collaboration (multi-disciplinary)
  • SIG common knowledge applied to specific cases

The above list of aims and intentions is long and challenging, and it is important to ensure that there is a clear demarcation of activities. We can therefore state that the Ecodesign SIG will not:

  • Develop methods and tools in itself
  • Simply meet at the Design and ICED conferences (and nothing more)
  • Display too much wishful thinking or be too ambitious
  • Just talk
